Louis Breland has been a leader in the homebuilding and real estate development industry since 1975. With a career defined by bold vision and sustained success, he has built and sold Breland Homes three times—each time as the largest private builder in its market—culminating in sales to Washington Homes (1999), D.R. Horton (2012), and most recently, Lennar Corporation (2022). His strategic acumen and relentless drive have positioned him as one of the most respected names in Southeastern development.

Beyond homebuilding, Louis has demonstrated a keen business instinct through ventures like Safe Mini Storage, which he scaled into the region’s largest privately held self-storage company before its acquisition by Sovran Self Storage, Inc. in 2006. Today, he continues to expand in this space with nine storage locations across Alabama and Mississippi.

As the driving force behind the Breland Companies, Louis is currently focused on developing transformative commercial and mixed-use projects, including Clift Farm and Town Madison—two premier, master-planned communities that have drawn top national and regional tenants and are helping to redefine the Huntsville metro area. Together, these projects span over 1,000 acres and include more than 5,000 residential units, setting a new benchmark for growth in the Southeast.

At the heart of Louis’s work is a passion for strengthening communities. Alongside his wife Patti, he actively supports causes that serve foster children, first responders, and wounded veterans. Their philanthropy has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Excellence in Leadership and Service Award from the Madison Chamber of Commerce and the 2023 Heart of the Community Award from the American Heart Association.

Louis and Patti live in North Alabama and are proud parents and grandparents. Their shared values, enduring faith, and commitment to service continue to inspire everything they do.
